Open Range Academy offers comprehensive support and long term administrative assistance to clients. Although your Paw Coach is there to assist you in any way possible with your Service Animal journey, here are the main areas of support that we provide:
Administrative Support
Paw Coach: Service Dog Support Plan
An Open Range Academy (ORA) Paw Coach is an integral part of your Service Dog support system. You will have access to an ORA Paw Coach of your choice and may change coaches at anytime. ORA coaching services are available 7 days a week. Your ORA coach is well educated in the Service Dog industry and is there to provide knowledgeable and proven resources to support your Service Dog experience. Here are some key administrative components your Paw Coach can assist with:
- Help developing a proper Service Dog Support Plan. With your itemized support plan your Paw Coach can assist with many features, such as:
- Choosing the appropriate Service Dog for your support plan. This may include things like determining breed, demeanor or size.
- Choosing the appropriate Service Dog Training Program. Your coach can assist you with understanding service dog tasking abilities and the appropriate way that your service dog can help you manage your needs. Your Paw Coach can also assist in supporting create manageable expectations.
Prescription (Letter) Support
Service Animal Prescriptions
The Service Dog industry is chock-full of unscrupulous programs that offer Service Dog and ESA Letters, your ORA Paw Coach can assist you with finding a local practitioner, mental or physical, who can assist you with obtaining an appropriate prescription letter. A prescription may not be necessary and your Paw Coach can assist you with understanding the laws and legal requirements that may or may not be applicable to your situation.
Form Assistance
Form Assistance For Access To Housing or Airlines
Many service animal assistance providers sell single forms for $75 or more each. Legal forms are readily available and in-fact we provide them to you freely (click-here for useful service dog forms). However, filling out the forms it is not always intuitive or straight forward. Because your ORA Paw Coach has experience with these situations they are able to quickly and efficiently help you fill out the proper forms, make sure that you are legally required to fill out a form, and ultimately support the situation that requires a form to be filled.
Legal Support
Understand Your Rights And Comply With The Legal Service Animal Requirements
The laws regarding service animals are not always straight forward. Different federal agencies govern different areas where you may or may not have access for your service animal. Here are some examples; the ADA governs public access, the DOT/ACAA governs airline access, the FHA governs housing access, and these laws do not cover local state regulations.
It is imperative that you fully understand your rights and remain within the bounds of your rights. Many states are cracking down on fake Service Dogs and the federal penalty exceeds a $75k fine for falsely claiming access to a Service Dog.
