My name is Allison and I’m a 28 year old Jewelry Designer turned Airport Manager from Western New York. My favorite thing to do is camp in the Adirondack Mountains.
There is a Japanese term called Ikigai. It means “reason for being.” Ikigai can be obtained at the intersection of: doing what you love, doing what you are good at, doing what you can be paid for, and doing what the world needs. I want to become a dog trainer because I’m searching for my reason for being.
As a jewelry designer, I was able to work from home and have the flexibility of being my own boss. I once had an opportunity to raise orphaned wildlife and it was the most rewarding experience of my life. Each day at work at the airport, I forge relationships with pilots and I love getting to work with a handful of clients one on one. I’m excited about the prospect of dog training to bring these elements from my previous experiences together into a career in which I will get to have a positive impact on both dogs and people.
